Project loft part three - the build.

Here's what we have so far.  Didn't count on hubby being sick two days.  I'm thinking about finishing all by myself.  What?  I know how to use a drill and I have my own purple tool kit.

Baby Shower with a 1920's Twist -Decorations

Katlyn (Mommy-to-be)

Mickey (Daddy-to-be)
1920's Themed Baby Shower- The decorations.
The table scape is a mix match of antique china and serving trays.  I used candle holders and this
to make the three tier center piece and to stack the plates.

Project loft?

Part II:  Buying supplies?
Rule to follow when working with your husband or spouse, as the case may be:
        1.  Find or create a plan to follow and make your spouse pinky swear to follow it exactly.  They won't follow the plan exactly but it may deter them from deviating too much.
        2.  Make a list.   Pinky swear to stick to it.  Absolutely no extras!  I have to admit this is where I often fall short.  My husband always gives in to what extras I put in the cart.  Stay strong my love!
The MOST important rule:
         3.  Never, never, never send your spouse alone to pick up the materials.  They'll come back with thousands of dollars of tools they "NEED" to complete the project.
Rule 4.  Bring a big truck!
I was a nervous wreak all the way home. It was only about two miles, but still.

Beginning of project.
Phase 1: turn Morgan's bed into a couch/toddler bed.
1. Craig is cutting boards to make this antique wood bed frame into a couch that can be converted into a toddler bed.
Let us pray.  (No joke!)

Prayer Update

Prayer Request

Please pray for my daughter Morgan. She fell today on the same elbow she had dislocated two years ago. She has a fracture in the right humorous bone. The doctor Doesn't like how her elbow is sticking out said it needs to be corrected now.  ( her ulna bone is shaped wrong?)  This means surgery. We chose to go the less evasive route last time when the doctor recommended surgery. She has an appointment with her other doctor tomorrow.
Her left elbow is severely swollen and in pain. She was attacked by a swarm of wasp. (Not sure which came first, the fall or the swarm).
We want a COMPLETE healing for Morgan. This means no surgery, cast, splint, or even sports tape. A miracle that doctors and x-rays can't explain.
Thanks for your prayers.

The Walton's, do they really exist?

Since the moment my children were born I have drilled into their little minds “family” first because in the end all you  have is each other. Stick by and always be there for each other. Family is “family”.
But what I have come to realize is that "family" comes in many forms.

Never throw anything out!

Asked someone (Lacey) to bring any empty wine bottles she may have.  Originally I was going to use them for lighting outside for our 20's party. Didn't happen so I guess I'll have to do a redo. (Another party)
Added small mason jars with votive candles.  It just made everything sparkle.
Just a few empty bottles and candles from the dollar store.
Warning: never leave candles unattended.  I would recommend using this idea outside or away from curtains, and anything flammable.

Part3

Decided to do the whole thing over.  Better to do now than kill, I mean deal with it later.  Used the wrong polyurethane anyway.  Comes right up with painters tape.  Would have been good to know before my husband tried to scrape it off.
Too late to give up now.  I see a huge reward in my future.  You see, hubby at work. I get to deal with this pleasure all by myself.  Yeah me!

I know I can part two!

A few hours later I had this....

Not bad for my first floor painting.
                  I'm kinda proud.
     Here's my problem...

          Notice the color difference?
That's not a shadow on the left.
Be sure to read ALL directions very
                         carefully.
        This poly will change the
        appearance of paint color.
Now we have to decide do we continue, cover the remainder of the living room and change the color or even ruin my beautiful rug?  Or do we redo the side that is already done?
Why it takes us a two weeks to
do what everyone else on Pinterest
can do in a couple of days,
                     I have No Idea!

Looking From Third to Fourth: Next School Year I Am Definitely Going To......

I think I can, I think I can, I know I can!

School's out.  So now the projects begin.  First up are the floors in my living room and hall.  We already pulled up those nasty fake wood floors.  Loved them at my last house and their great to have if you have kids.  Not great when you have a dog that "marks his territory" everywhere.  (For the record I wanted to get him fixed but my husband rambled something about guy code and he could do that to him?   CJ is a tiny dog that stays inside or in a fenced yard.  He's not producing any more CJ's.  he's never out of our sight.  Don't judge.)
So we get this.

And this ...

Living in the present?

Formal observations, and state testing are over and I survived.  Your told to teach a certain way, expected to do certain things in your observations for 16 years, and they flip the switch on you.

My "easy" chair make over.

I found this chair at an antique store in Denham Springs, LA.
While recovering our office chair I made the wicker section a lot weaker.
So, after a trip to the Goodwill store, my "dented" chair turned into this:
How did I do it?
Easy.
